Celerant’s Range Software Now Talks Directly to SmartRange AXIS, Eliminating Manual Lane Setup

Provo, Utah – June 2, 2026 — Action Target, Inc., a leading manufacturer of shooting range equipment and technology, today announced that Celerant Technology, a preferred retail software provider for the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), has joined the SRA Connect Partner Program as a verified integration partner. Celerant’s point-of-sale and range management platform now integrates natively with the SmartRange AXIS range management system through the SRA Connect API, connecting the retail counter with the range floor and removing the manual handoff that has historically separated the two.

Through the integration, range staff check customers in through Celerant’s range software, assign a lane, and designate session time from the POS. Previously, that information required a second, manual entry on the SmartRange AXIS control screen before it reached the in-stall tablet. Now, the lane assignment and session time set in Celerant communicate directly with SmartRange AXIS to activate the stall tablet and the target equipment, with the shooter’s name already displayed when they arrive. Session time is tracked in real-time. When time expires, the target stops presenting and SmartRange AXIS equipment locks automatically, so lanes turn over without requiring manual staff intervention.

Celerant’s next major software release will expand to support SmartRange AXIS in-lane ordering, enabling shooters to purchase targets, ammunition, gun rentals, and additional range time directly from Action Target’s in-stall tablet. Orders sync directly to Celerant’s POS for fast staff fulfillment, increasing per-lane revenue and delivering a better shooting experience.

This integration with Celerant is available to shooting range businesses running SmartRange AXIS with Celerant’s Range Management application. Shooting range businesses using Celerant without SmartRange AXIS can gain access by upgrading to SmartRange AXIS Connect.

Action Target integrations functions as an open API system, allowing any POS company to integrate. Action Target welcomes inquiries from additional POS vendors and systems integrators who serve the shooting range market.

POS partners now connect directly with SmartRange AXIS, giving range operators a single, seamless workflow from check-in to lane management.

Provo, Utah – May 29, 2026 — The gap between the counter and the range just closed. Action Target, Inc., the leading global expert on modern shooting ranges, today officially launched the SmartRange AXIS Connect Partner Program, a verified network of point-of-sale providers whose platforms connect directly with SmartRange AXIS to run the entire range from one workflow.

For years, range operators managed lane assignments from one system and the POS from another, with no direct connection between them. SmartRange AXIS Connect closes that gap. When a shooter checks in at the counter, staff assign their lane from the POS they already use. By the time that shooter reaches their stall, their name is on the screen, the target retriever is ready, and their session is already running. This results in faster check-ins, fewer manual steps, and a more seamless experience for staff and shooters alike.

Once in their stall, shooters can purchase additional lane time, targets, ammunition, and gun rentals directly from the in-stall screen, without stepping away from their lane or their equipment. Orders flow through the connected POS, staff receive a notification, and items can be delivered directly to the stall. All customer data, payment information, and transaction records remain within the POS platform. When additional items are needed, they can be added to a cart and checked out without packing up gear or leaving equipment unattended. That frictionless experience benefits the shooter and drives incremental revenue for the range.

Payson High Welding Students Tour Action Target

“Not just anyone gets to weld for Action Target,” Steve Williams, Operations Manager for Action Target, told Payson High School students before their facility tour, “The industry says a 1/8” tolerance is acceptable – here at Action Target we will flag and pull production any work that doesn’t exceed 1/32” precision.”

At Action Target, we believe in inspiring the next generation of innovators, especially in the great Nebo School District of Utah County we get to call home. A group of 50 eager students from Payson High School’s welding program stepped into the heart of our manufacturing facility to bridge the gap between education and industry. Unique from many environments manufacturers work in, Action Target employees enjoy comfortable temperatures throughout our 100,000sqft facility due to no open flames being used. Coupling that with the clean working environment, we had several motivated students asking for business cards and advice on how to get hired.

Insights From Action Target Welders

Students gained perspectives from Action Target welders as young as 18 years old and as old as 71, highlighting a major benefit of learning this skill as it provides longevity in career. Students were able to learn from some who continued welding their entire professional life, and others who have used welding as a steppingstone into manufacturing, engineering, entrepreneurship, and more. “Welding is a valuable skillset, and even as we consider new state of the art machinery, we still want trained welders to be running those machines,” Trent Peterson, Manufacturing Engineer, advised on his tour.

The Manufacturing Process at Action Target

Students were guided through the various stages of production; from initial design concepts, to the burn tables, then stations set up for bending steel, welding, painting, and the final assembly of our state-of-the-art systems. Hannah Evanson, Manufacturing Engineer, mentioned to her tour group “welding and really the entire manufacturing process requires as much creativity as it does plain hard work. When you break it down that’s really what we do here, we get creative in designing anything that might work better, we find raw materials that would make that idea feasible, and through that process we end up building better and safer shooting range equipment than what existed before us”.

Bridging the Gap Between Classroom and Workplace

By exposing students to real-world applications of the skills they’re learning, we aim to bridge the gap between the classroom and the workplace. Students left our facility with a newfound appreciation for precision engineering and the world of manufacturing. The job market is bright for creative and hard-working individuals that learn how to weld, and Payson High’s program exemplifies these next generation professionals we would be proud to work alongside in the future.

As part of updates to SmartRange AXIS, Action Target has improved the integrated target camera’s resolution and live feed capabilities on our Genesis and Pilot target retrievers. Customers can view the target in real-time, on the control screen, at any distance. Additionally, Smart Range AXIS will now provide the option to utilize a larger 15” local control screen in each stall.

Action Target has integrated additional target systems to SmartRange AXIS, including electric turning targets and DRM Pro (Dual Running Man running target. SmartRange AXIS also manages custom stall LED lights from the range’s master control system, unlocking additional branding and customization opportunities.

Shooting Stalls 

Action Target re-introduces the Citadel^TM shooting stall to its industry-leading shooting stalls lineup. Continuing to improve on our offerings, Action Target will feature new brass deflectors, training barricades, and easy lift tables. The updated brass deflectors will come standard with an adjustable height feature that prevents spent brass from entering adjacent stalls. The easy lift table allows access for down-range servicing of equipment or tactical training. These are just a few of the latest developments in Action Target’s mission to “build the safest and most advanced shooting ranges possible.”

Pilot X – Xtreme

New this year to Action Target’s extensive offerings of target retrievers is the Pilot Xtreme—a retriever built for outdoor ranges and training. The new product is designed to perform reliably in tough conditions with heavy rainfall, high humidity, and temperatures ranging from 32⁰F – 120⁰F. Engineered features such as an all-weather track and IP64-rated electronics allow this product to operate in the most remote locations around the globe. Modular Range/s – ARCAS^TM

LAS VEGAS, N.V. – February 1, 2022 – The Industry Day at the Range Safety Award, sponsored by Action Target, honors the participating company that demonstrates the highest standard of safety throughout the event. The 2022 Action Target Safety Award was awarded to Franklin Armory at the Boulder Rifle and Pistol Club Range on January 17.

The winner of the Action Target Safety Award receives a $2,000 credit toward the 2023 Industry Day at the Range event. Franklin Armory has elected to donate the $2,000 to Project ChildSafe. Project ChildSafe is a National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) program committed to promoting firearm safety to communities across the United States.
